Get in touch
Call (215) 949-1167 or email gingerbreadhds@yahoo.com to start. Tell us your child's age and which days you need. We can answer your questions about the program and hours. Then we set a time for you to visit.

Tour the room
You will see the classroom your child would join and meet the teachers who run it. Watch how the room is set up and how the day flows. Ask anything about your child's age group. Then decide if it feels like a good fit.

Enroll and settle in
Complete your enrollment forms and plan a first week that suits your child's routine. Within your child's class, one teacher will be your child's primary teacher. That teacher observes your child and plans activities that meet his or her needs. You will get daily notes about the day.
What to have ready
Most families bring their child's enrollment forms, a health form, and an immunization record. You will also list emergency contacts and the people allowed to pick up your child. We cannot release your child to anyone not listed as a release person. Ask the office if you are unsure what is needed.
Pack a full change of clothes, including socks, in a labelled bag. Add outdoor gear for the season and a comfort object for rest time. Write your child's name on everything. Teachers can tell you what each room keeps on hand.
Think through your drop-off routine and who will pick up each day. Anyone picking up should bring picture identification. Your child's primary teacher will observe and plan for your child, so tell her how you like to hear about the day. Ask the office about anything you want to sort out before the first morning.
The first weeks
The first days are short on purpose. Your child might come for a morning, then stay a little longer. Send a familiar object from home, a small blanket or a stuffed animal. One teacher will be your child's primary teacher, greeting them by name and noting how the day goes.
At pickup, teachers tell you how your child ate, slept, and played. You will also get daily notes about your child's day. Most children settle into the routine within a few weeks. Ask your child's primary teacher if you want more detail.

What if there is no place right now?
If your child's age group is full, tell us and we can let you know when a place opens. Ask the office to add your child to the list.
What should I ask on the tour?
Ask about hours, meals, and how pickup works. Ask how the first weeks are handled and how you will hear about your child's day. Ask what a typical day looks like in your child's room.
