We use a theme-based curriculum called Pinnacle. Activities build language, science, music, and social and emotional skills. Play and exploration carry the learning. Each week, plans and objectives go home. Your child's primary teacher observes and records progress, then plans activities around what your child needs. Assessments happen every six months, around November and May, and you can view your child's anytime.
A weekly theme ties the days together. Children build, sort, paint, sing, and listen to stories, and the teacher adjusts the plan as the group moves through it. You get the week's plans and objectives in writing, so you know what is coming. In the classroom, one teacher is your child's primary teacher. She watches your child closely and records what she sees.
That record adds up. Over months, a teacher can show you how your child went from pointing at a picture to naming it, or from parallel play to taking turns. Each child's assessment is kept in their file, and you can look at it whenever you like. Around November and May, you sit down with the primary teacher to talk through it.
